Mandates:

  • To carry out research in human health.
  • To cooperate with other research organizations and institutions of higher learning on matters of relevant research and training.
  • To liaise with other relevant bodies within and outside Kenya carrying out research and related activities.

CRTMCD is committed to conducting high-quality research that addresses the health challenges faced by vulnerable populations. We believe in the power of collaboration and work closely with various partners to achieve our goals. Our team is dedicated to capacity building and empowering local communities through education and participation in development initiatives. We have built long-standing relationships with local healthcare providers, civic leaders, and patient advocacy groups. This has ensured culturally sensitive trial processes, excellent participant retention and a steady influx of eligible participants. Over the years of conducting research under the Directorate of Research and Innovation at Mount Kenya University, we have cultivated meaningful relationships with community leaders across various sectors in Kenya. Our engagement with health workers particularly at the primary healthcare level (dispensaries) has been instrumental in spearheading many successful projects completed in collaboration with international organizations. These collaborations have not only enhanced our research outcomes but also reinforced trust within the communities we serve. We have established technical working groups and steering committees, enabling us to disseminate findings and critical health information back to the community in ways that are practical and beneficial. Additionally, during our process of securing approvals, we’ve built strong networks with various county governments. These connections have allowed us to engage leaders in impactful work particularly in facilitating efficient patient recruitment.
